Both safety Sydney Glover and cornerback Brandon Hogan will not play in today's Meineke Car Care Bowl.
Friday afternoon it was determined that the sophomores wouldn't be able to play because of injury and illness. Glover suffered a knee injury against South Florida when an offensive player dove at his right knee, hitting it with his helmet. Brandon Hogan has been under the weather all week here in Charlotte and is unlikely to see the field.
Glover is fifth on the team with 61 tackles. Hogan is sixth with 60. Hoganis tied with the team lead with three interceptions and leads the team with seven pass break-ups. Glover is right behind with six pass break-ups and one pick. Hogan has forced two fumbles while Glovr has forced one, including the key fumble he forced and recovered against South Florida in the last game of the season, perhaps his best of the season when he also intercepted a Matt Grothe pass.
Keith Tandy will get the start at Hogan's cornerback spot and Quentin Andrews, Nate Sowers and Boogie Allen will rotate through the spur and bandit safety positions.
investigates the mystery surrounding the absence from practice of West Virginia Mountaineers cornerback Brandon Hogan. Told through the first part of the week that Hogan was “not feeling well,” head coach Bill Stewart changed his story when talking to reporters on Christmas Day, explaining that the sophomore was “dealing with some personal issues” and would be “evaluated day-to-day” leading up to Saturday’s matchup against North Carolina. Should Hogan not be available, cornerbacks coach for the Mountaineers, Dave Lockwood, has stated that he will likely move Keith Tandy into Hogan’s position.
